The Bruker S1 TITAN is a handheld XRF analyser used for rapid elemental analysis across environmental, geological and industrial materials. It is designed for users who need reliable results without laboratory infrastructure or complex setup.
The workflow is straightforward:
place the analyser on the sample > pull the trigger > read the result.
For routine screening tasks, the instrument can be configured with PASS/FAIL thresholds, allowing fast classification of soils, minerals, plastics or powders against predefined limits.
For laboratory users, the S1 TITAN includes extensive calibration libraries for geochemical materials, environmental soils, polymers, industrial raw materials and ceramics. These libraries provide stable quantification for both major and trace elements, supporting field work and bench-top QA without additional sample preparation.
The instrument is suitable for high-throughput tasks such as soil-metal surveys, mineral exploration, additive screening in polymers or raw-material checks in production environments. DetectorShield™ protects the SDD window from accidental contact with rough samples, maintaining uptime during day-to-day use.
Applications
1. Soils, Sediments & Environmental Screening
Rapid field or bench analysis of Pb, As, Cr, Cu, Zn and other elements for site surveys, remediation work and environmental monitoring. PASS/FAIL modes can be applied to regulatory thresholds.
2. Mining, Exploration & Geochemistry
Suitable for drill core, rock chips, crushed ore and soil anomalies. Used for grade control, lithological classification and preliminary exploration decisions.
3. Polymers, Plastics & Recyclate
Identifies halogens, fillers, additives and restricted substances. Supports RoHS/WEEE workflows and general polymer characterisation.
4. Ceramics, Glass & Building Materials
Elemental checks on clays, frits, finished ceramics and construction materials. Useful for verifying Si, Ca, Fe and related oxides in manufacturing.
5. Industrial Powders, Catalysts & Chemical Intermediates
Provides non-destructive confirmation of composition or contamination during process control and material screening.
6. Academic & Research Laboratories
General-purpose handheld XRF for materials science, geology, archaeology, environmental studies and teaching laboratories.
7. Metals & Manufactured Components
Provides elemental composition of metal samples where understanding alloying elements, trace constituents or contamination is required. Useful for laboratory material characterisation, recyclate sorting, metallurgical studies and incoming-material screening where rapid, non-destructive elemental data supports process or research needs.
