Portable ultrasonic flaw detector for weld inspection, corrosion assessment and thickness measurement
The Krautkrämer USM 36 is a universal ultrasonic flaw detector built for daily field and plant work.
Its large screen, rugged housing and long battery life make it reliable in harsh inspection environments across oil & gas, power generation, fabrication and aerospace.
The instrument supports weld testing, corrosion assessment, thickness measurement and metallic product evaluation, with optional DAC, AWS, DGS, BEA, and square-wave pulser capability depending on model (USM 36 / 36 S / 36 DAC).
Applications
Weld Inspection (Carbon steel, stainless, duplex, Cr-Mo alloys)
- DAC / JISDAC / AWS options
- Angle-beam support with clear A-scan visibility
Used for structural welds, pipework, pressure systems and fabrication shops.
Corrosion Measurement (Pipelines, vessels, tanks)
- Dual-element probe support
- Minimum-capture for wall-loss detection
Suitable for power-gen and process plant corrosion programmes.
Thickness Measurement (Automotive and industrial parts)
-
Precise echo evaluation for thin and mid-range sections
Useful for panels, machined components and light alloy parts.
Forgings & Long Products (Shafts, rings, billets)
-
Phantom-PRF and DGS (depending on variant)
Helps differentiate true flaws from spurious echoes in long components.
Special Materials
-
Square-wave pulser option for difficult or attenuative alloys
