Portable ultrasonic thickness gauges for corrosion and coated surfaces
The DMS Go+ Series from Waygate Technologies is a portable A-scan ultrasonic thickness gauge built for corrosion monitoring and general wall-thickness inspection. With robust IP67 protection, stable A-scan performance and a user-friendly rotary knob, it is well suited to plant work, offshore inspections and maintenance routes where reliability and quick setup matter.
The adjustable display (portrait/landscape) improves interpretation in tight access areas, and the flip function supports left- or right-handed use in the field. Data export is straightforward via SD card or USB, and parameter sets can be saved and recalled to speed up repeat inspections.
Available models:
DMS Go+ Basic
- Standard A-scan measurement
- For uncoated metals and general UT thickness checks
DMS Go+
- Adds Dual Multi mode for thickness readings through coatings
- Ideal for pipelines, vessels and painted assets
DMS Go+ Advanced
- Adds a full datalogger, custom grid creation, MicroGrid, 3D/4D structures
- Designed for high-volume corrosion mapping projects
Applications
1.Corrosion Monitoring (Carbon Steel Pipework & Vessels)
Used across oil & gas, petrochemical and power-generation sites for:
- Corrosion surveys on pipelines
- Wall-thickness trending on pressure vessels
- In-service thickness checks on process pipework
- B-scan profiling for localised thinning
- Dual Multi mode maintains accuracy through coatings and paint layers, reducing surface prep.
2. Coated Assets (Painted Steel, Protective Coatings, Insulated Lines)
Technicians use the DMS Go+ to measure metal thickness without removing paint, including:
- Above-ground pipework
- Tank shells
- Structural steel beams
- Process equipment with protective coatings
- Stable readings even on mixed or degraded coating layers.
3. Boiler Tubes & High-Temperature Lines
With appropriate probes, the DMS Go+ supports high-temperature thickness measurement up to 540°C, including:
- Boiler and superheater tubes
- Steam lines and hot process lines
- Online checks during plant operation
- The optional OSS-10 oxide-scale probe helps assess scale build-up for boiler-efficiency monitoring.
4. Austenitic & Difficult Materials (Stainless, Duplex, Inconel)
- Reliable A-scans on materials with complex grain structure, used for:
- Stainless steel pipework
- Duplex and super duplex components
- High-nickel alloys (Inconel, Hastelloy)
- Welded stainless fabrication
- The instrument maintains stable back-wall echoes where lower-end gauges often struggle.
5. GRP / Non-Metallic Components (Conditional)
Suitable for composite or GRP components where a clear back-wall echo is present, including:
- GRP tank shells
- Composite panels and housings
- Non-metallic industrial linings
- Velocity adjustment ensures correct interpretation across varied materials.
6. General Maintenance Thickness Checks
- Technicians use the DMS Go+ as an everyday tool for:
- Steel plate verification
- Fabricated component checks
- Small-diameter pipe and tube monitoring
- Equipment and machinery maintenance
- Fast A-scan interpretation makes it practical for large inspection routes.
Labquip NDT Support
- Guidance choosing Basic / DMS Go+ / Advanced
- Probe selection for coated surfaces, high temperature, boiler tubes and austenitic materials
- Setup assistance for corrosion routes, B-scan workflows and data-logging grids
- Support with SD card / USB exports and structured reporting
